Increase The Distance On Your Drives

Why does it seem like every beginning golfer is always trying to drive the ball 300 yards like the guys on the professional tour. But what happens when your name isn't Tiger Woods and you don't have the same golf clubs made of titanium alloys? Will you be able to hit the ball as far when you trot out onto the beautifully manicured greens with your used golf clubs? You can reverse that trend and drive the ball farther then ever by folowing the tips below.

Prior to an at at you'll see baseball players doing it... Baseball players will conduct practice swings before they get their at bat with 2 or 3 bats to simulate a heavier bat and to make the one bat feel "lighter" once it's their turn to bat. Why do they do this? Baeball players do it to increase their bat speed when they step up to the plate for the real at bat and you can do the same thing on the golf course.

The process is called Pre-Loading and what happens during pre-loading is your neuromuscular system is forced to fire more muscle fibers then normal in order to compensate for the additional weight. So when you step up to the ball and swing with no additional weight, your body is still swinging with the same strength and consequently you hit the ball farther. So enough about baseball how can we apply this to golf?

The longer irons in your golf bag are perfect for this exercise. I usually opt for the 3, 4 and 5 irons and pull them out along with the wood I plan on using for that hole. Most golfers will take a few practice swings before the get readty to tee off and you can do the same thing. Before you pick up your driver, you want to take two or three practice swings with whatever club combination you've decided to use. Now you're ready for your tee shot!

The other tip is necessary for this type of swing and the tip is to relax your hands when gripping the club and this is how you do it. When you're looking down at the ball and you're preparing to swing, grip the club grip as tight as you can for a few seconds, let go, take one last look at the flag and then regrip it loosely. Once you let your firm grip go, your strength in your fingers and forearms will be reduced and this will force you to relax.

Finally, the key to a good drive is a relaxed swing and a good set of cheap golf clubs. Too many golfers make the mistake of swinging out of their golf shoes and try to drive the ball 400 yards. You've heard the saying: "let the club do the work," well let the club do the work and just take a nice and smooth swing without trying to crush the ball. You'll have an ear to ear smile on your face once you discover the true power of relaxation and the effects it can have on your golf game.
